1. Light Outdoors or in a Well-Ventilated Area: Because quick-lighting charcoal contains an ignition catalyst that sparks and releases initial smoke and chemical odors when lit, always use a lighter or torch to ignite the tablet near an open window or outdoors before moving it into your living space. 2. Wait for the Chemical Coating to Burn Off: Once ignited, the tablet will spark across its surface. Do not place incense or shisha tobacco on the charcoal immediately; wait 1 to 2 minutes until the tablet stops smoking, glows red, and begins to develop a light layer of grey ash. 3. Use Heat-Resistant Tongs: Never handle hot or igniting charcoal discs with your bare hands or regular plastic utensils. Always use dedicated metal charcoal tongs to reposition, move, or place the tablet onto your incense burner (mabkhara) or shisha bowl. 4. Place on an Insulated Burner: Ensure the charcoal is placed on a heatproof ceramic, metal, or stone burner. Keep the burning setup away from flammable objects like curtains, rugs, paper, and low-hanging surfaces.
